The Main Download Zip contains all the files below in a directory structure, that when unzipped allow the Blender sequencer to know where to find the files generated by rendering the animation. Some of the files can also be downloaded on their own not zipped:
  • The Blender 3D animation file used to produce the pictures.
  • The Blender sequence editor file used to make the full length animation.
  • The HTML used to make the web app.

Software Used to Make and Edit Project
Blender is a free 3D graphics and video editing package. It was used to render the 3D graphics and line up the audio with the images and create the fade transitions.
Audacity is a free audio editor. It was used for recording and editing the video's commentary and also for noise reduction. I used a Samson Q1U mic. This USB mic should give a professional recording without the need for a mixing desk or pre amp (ideal for pod casting it costs about £35).
Other Software Used

Cam Studio Lossless Codec: This codec was written for screen capture software. I used it to render a master copy of my movie from the Blender sequencer. It works well here because most frames don't change. I have trouble with Blender's sound encoding using this codec allowed me to use external software for adding sound without any loss of video quality (more info).

Virtual Dub: I rendered the movie without sound and used Virtual Dub to add it back in. This program has lots of options when adding sound to a video. I created an XVID AVI with MP3 sound from here and also a Camstudio AVI with WAV sound.

Super: I used this to encode an .MOV for Quicktime with H264 video and AAC sound.

XVID codec: Reasonable video compression that does not take ages. Works with Blender, VLC, Virtual Dub.

Notepad++: A great text editor for editing HTML.

Video LAN (VLC): A great video player that just plays most formats.

Openoffice Impress: Presentation software used to create the PowerPoint and Impress presentation.

The Bridge Diagram Project

The Gospel is the most important message the church has. The bridge illustration can be used to clearly present God's offer of forgiveness and eternal life in a way children and adults can understand.

The aim of this project is to maintain a media presentation that can be freely distributed and adapted for use with different:

  • age groups (children, teenagers, adults)
  • languages (English, Chinese or Arabic)
  • artistic styles (Manga, 3D CGI, line art)
  • technologies (video, PowerPoint, HTML)
  • Churches and Christian organisations
  • Emphasis

Some will undoubtedly make bad use of these files, but my hope is that more will use them well, to reach people I alone could not begin to reach. I also hope that by working with this content Christians will become very familiar with the contents of the gospel. It could be a fun project for a youth group to make their own gospel presentation and put it on the web. The children will then naturally share this with friends in the context of "Come and see what I did!". Christian pod casters may want to dub their own version of the audio for listeners who appreciate their voice. Christian artists may want to redraw the images in their own artistic style. Some may want to produce a web version of this which only uses scripture for the captions and others may want to simplify the language and shorten the length for use with children. An animator may want to produce a full motion 3D animation. A church may want to add their own contact information. That is not to mention presentations in every language and dialect.

People in your circle of influence will be interested in a piece of media on the web simply because someone they know was involved in producing it. This is why YouTube is the third most popular site on the Internet. When I first became a Christian my vicar said God's strategy in dealing with false teachers is to train up and release more good teachers. So if you consider yourself to have good doctrine please make use of this material. Your time may be better spent preaching the truth than uprooting the heresies.

This project was produced entirely using free software and should be editable using entirely free software. I also encourage you to link to this project from your presentation.

You are permitted to rework this presentation providing this basic message remains intact:
